Here at BR Metals, we understand that each customer is unique. Hence, we offer 2 distinct recycling models for used catalytic converters – direct purchase (Model A) and value-based settlement options (Model B) – with the one objective of meeting your specific growth needs. We can also customize a solution that addresses particular concerns you may have with the recycling and recovery process.
Sampling and analysis are performed at our own facilities and state-of-the-art laboratories in both Guangzhou with the strictest attention to accuracy, transparency and fast turnaround. With our in-house sampling and assay capabilities, we have analysed and compiled more than 14,000 catalytic converters of different makes and models into a catalogue with Platinum Group Metals (PGM) breakdown and live prices. We continue to update our catalytic converters database with new entries monthly so that our sales team can provide customers with the most up-to-date information like prices and PGM composition at their finger-tips.
We believe in taking ownership of our customers’ growth. That’s why we provide value-add services like technical support for processing and XRF assay, financial assistance and hedging of metals to minimise the risk of price fluctuations, which in turn help customers improve their cash flow and increase their buying capacity. All in all, we will do whatever it takes to make selling used catalytic converters and other precious metal scraps a fuss and stress-free experience, every time.
We are now extending the same level of service and commitment to deliver the best possible business outcome and returns for our customers to our e-waste recycling customers.
With Direct Purchase (Model A), all you have to do is to get in touch with us and schedule an appointment. Our sales staff will work closely with you to fix a convenient time for the collection of your used catalyst scraps. Thereafter, our experienced team of purchasers will visit your specified location to grade the materials. A preliminary analysis is done on the spot with our portable XRF machine. Prices will be negotiated and payment made thereafter. Our team will arrange for the transportation of materials back to our facility and issue all the necessary documentation.
For now, our collection service is only available for customers in Asia (excluding India). If we are unable to pick up at your location, we can connect you with the right scrap converters buyers and DPF buyers in our worldwide network.
We provide preliminary sampling and analysis of our clients’ materials based on the most stringent international standards. We make advance payment within 3 working days after processing and sampling. Upon the final analysis, a settlement will be made based on the current price of metals recovered.
This option offers higher returns but payment is not immediate. This options offers higher returns than Option A.
For value-based settlements, getting an accurate price assessment of your catalytic converter scraps is critical. As a leading exponent of precious metals recycling, BR Metals has the breath of capabilities and depth of experience to efficiently process your used catalytic converters as well as manage the entire sampling and analysis processes with utmost transparency.
Given the volatile prices of Platinum Group Metals (PGM), every single ounce of ceramic powder counts. Our sampling system is designed with 2 patented components to reduce material loss from leakage and human errors. Every step of our sampling process from de-canning of catalytic converters to milling and homogenisation is measured and fully documented and can be reproduced at any time.
Our laboratory only uses top-of-the-range equipment and proven technology to determine the precious metal content of your materials. Our team of chemists and technicians are adept at performing a wide range of precision analyses including X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), wet chemical analysis using ICP-OES and analyses to assess carbon and moisture.
You can rest assured that our Purchasing and Hedging teams will thoroughly research and watch the fluctuating catalytic converter recycling values to ensure you get the best possible returns.
We will mill, mix and homogenise the fine ceramic powder from your catalytic converter scraps with our patented bulk sampling system.
Homogenised ppowder is processed throngh fractional sampling machine, 200g of powder is divided into 3 samples – 1 for customer, 1 for customer, 1 for our analysis lab and 1 for independent lab (to settle discrepancies)
The representative sample is analysed using gold-standard Niton XRF analyser to determine Platinum, Palladium and Rhodium content at our laboratory
Advance payment of 80% of the value for the precious metals based on XRF result on the same day after XRF analysis.
Our well equipped laboratory will perform wet chemical analysis using ICP to accurately determine the precious metal content of your material within 10 working days.
Final payment is based on the ICP result and after deduction of any advance payment and open charges
The bulk ceramic powder is carefully packed to avoid wastage and to be shipped to the refinery for precious metals recovery
They contain precious metals such as platinum, palladium, and rhodium, which can be recovered and reused, making them highly valuable for recycling. Want to find out more, read here.
The Model B process is designed to minimize waste and emissions, ensuring that the recycling is as eco-friendly as possible. BR Metals is committed to sustainability and follows ISO 14001:2015 standards¹.
When choosing a catalytic converter recycling partner, especially in a competitive market like Southeast Asia, here’s what you should look for — and how BR Metals stands out:
Not all converters are created equal, and not all buyers pay you fairly. A trusted partner should offer transparent pricing based on precious metal content — not vague per-piece rates.
At BR Metals, we use ISO 17025:2017 certified analysis to ensure you’re paid the true value of every converter, backed by scientific accuracy.
Precision matters. Your returns depend on how accurately your converters are sampled and tested. We use patented sampling systems, XRF and ICP analysis — the industry standard in PGM analysis – to maximise payout and eliminate guesswork.
Delays in analysis or payment can strain your business cash flow.
We commit to a 7-working-day turnaround from sampling to settlement — with flexible financing for regular suppliers.
A good partner should be upfront about moisture deductions and processing fees. With BR Metals, what you see is what you get — clear terms, no surprises.
A reliable partner supports your growth. BR Metals offers a free price app with live pricing for over 20,000 converter types, market insights, hedging options, and supplier financing.
Working with a credible, established company reduces your risk. BR Metals is a multi-award-winning recycler with operations in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and China — trusted by professionals across Asia.
The Model B is an analysis-based settlement option for recycling used catalytic converters. It offers higher returns compared to direct purchase by providing a settlement based on the precise value of the precious metals like Platinum, Palladium and Rhodium recovered.
The process involves several steps: de-canning, milling, and homogenizing the catalytic converters, followed by sampling and analysis using advanced techniques like XRF and ICP-OES. An advance payment is made based on initial XRF results, with final settlement after ICP analysis.
Model B can handle a wide range of catalytic converters, including those from cars, trucks, and industrial machinery, regardless of their size or metal content.
The initial sampling and XRF analysis can be completed within 3 working days, while the final ICP analysis and settlement typically take up to 7 working days.
Model B offers higher returns due to the precise valuation of precious metals. It also includes services like hedging to protect against price fluctuations and flexible financing options to improve cash flow.
BR Metals uses state-of-the-art equipment and follows stringent international standards for sampling and analysis. The process includes multiple checks and balances to ensure accuracy and transparency.
BR Metals provides comprehensive support, including technical assistance, financial services, and market insights to help customers maximize their returns and manage risks effectively.
Yes, BR Metals encourages customers to visit their facilities to witness the processing and analysis of their catalytic converters. This transparency helps build trust and ensures customers are fully informed.
Recycling helps recover valuable metals, reducing the need for mining and lowering environmental impact. It also prevents hazardous materials from ending up in landfills.
